Frequently asked questions

Do I need any medical background to take HeartSaver?

No. HeartSaver is designed for the general public — parents, teachers, coaches, caregivers, and workplace responders. Everything is taught in plain language, step by step.

Does this class cover both CPR and First Aid?

Yes. HeartSaver Total combines CPR & AED with First Aid in one session, so you leave certified in all of it — no separate classes.

Is this the right class for daycare or childcare licensing?

In most cases, yes — childcare and youth programs typically require AHA HeartSaver CPR/AED and First Aid, which is exactly what this class covers, including infant and child CPR. Check your specific licensing requirement to be sure.

Is CPR for kids and infants included?

Yes. You’ll practice CPR and choking relief for adults, children, and infants — important for parents, childcare staff, and coaches.

What if my employer says “CPR and First Aid” but doesn’t mention AHA?

HeartSaver is the American Heart Association’s CPR/AED + First Aid course and is commonly accepted for many general “CPR and First Aid” requirements. If your employer specifically requires “BLS,” book the BLS class instead.

Is HeartSaver the same as BLS?

No. BLS is the provider-level course for healthcare workers. HeartSaver covers the same lifesaving basics — CPR, AED, choking relief, First Aid — for people who aren’t in clinical roles.
